Hitachi unit at Kadi closed after fire

Consumer durable firm Hitachi Home & Life Solutions on Thursday said its unit no 2 at Kadi plant in Gujarat, manufacturing air conditioners, has become inoperational after a major fire broke out there on Wednesday night.

"The unit 2 has been gutted in fire and is in-operable now," Hitachi's Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Amit Doshi said.

No human casualty has been reported, he said. "Last night there was a major fire at unit no 2 at Kadi plant, Gujarat due to which it has become non-operational," the company said. Adequate insurance of the plant has been made, the company added.

Meanwhile, the unit no 1 at Kadi plant and the company's Jammu plant are 'operational'. According to state fire officials, 22 fire fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot including 11 from Ahmedabad, which battled for around 10 hours to douse the fire. Gujarat State Disaster Management's (GSDMA's) help was sought to mobilise fire fighting vehicles from nearby areas like Kalol, Gandhinagar, Mehsana.

Two fire fighters and a water tanker of ONGC were also called for help, a fire official said.

"The time has come to think about review of industrial sites in rural areas of Gujarat," Ahmedabad's Deputy Fire Officer Rajesh Bhatt said.

"The fire at industrial site in Kadi has brought to fore the requirement for having on the spot water refilling resources as per the requirements of fire fighting vehicles," he said.

The major problem in controlling the fire at Kadi was vehicles had to be sent for refilling to other locations, and by the time they arrived back the cooling done had again turned into blaze, he said.

London 2012 Olympics:12 days to Go

Olympics:the mega sports event on the earth. It is as great as it sounds.Unluckiely,we indians don't much bother about it,and there is a bucket full of reasons for that. However indian playes won few madels last time and made there stand in the world.Sports lovers are expecting some respectable position in madel table.Let's have look at india's chance in london olympics 2012.

Boxing:

Indian boxers are doing well since last few years. So boxing is the bright side this time for india. When Vijender Singh returned with a bronze from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, many Indians believed it was a flash in the pan.But now we also have Jai Bhagwan (60kg), Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Sumit Sangwan (81kg) in the mix.We also had high hopes of Vikas Krishan (60kg), Shiva Thapa (56kg) and Devendro Singh (49kg).More importantly, by my calculations, at least three of them - Vikas, Shiva and Vijender - are serious medal contenders. And frankly, unlike in the US or China or Australia, here in India we do not care about the colour of the medal at the Olympics.

Tennis:

Despite of few problems indian can bag a medal or two in tennis.Leander Paes would pair with Vishnu Vardhan while Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna would make the second team, AITA president Anil Khanna said.Seeing their current form,Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna are expected to win a medal.Let's hope the manage to claim medal.

Shooting:

From silver in Athens to gold in Beijing, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Abhinav Bindra had lifted Indian sports to lofty standards on the Olympic stage. With accomplished stars such as Ronjan Sodhi, Gagan Narang and Manavjit Singh Sandhu heading an 11-member shooting squad, national coach Prof. Sunny Thomas said that Indian shooting would continue to spearhead Indian sports. The buzz around India's shooting contingent for London is that it is the country's best yet and that the results will be better than Beijing. So fans are expecting few medals from indian shooters this time.

Archery:

Archery has never been a strong medal prospect for India at the Olympics, but signs are that this time will be different. India will be represented by six shooters " three men, three women " and each of them are in good form. The brightest prospect is world No. 1 Deepika Kumari, who believes her experience and improved technique will be an asset against the Koreans who will be her toughest opponents.

Badminton:

Think of Indian badminton and only one name springs to mind " Saina Nehwal. And having beaten Chinese world No. 4 Shixian Wang and her compatriot and world No 3 Xuerui Li en route to her third Indonesia Open title in the last four year, Saina has become a strong medal prospect in London.

Apart from Saina, the other possible medal winners are the world championship bronze medal-winning women's pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa. The Jwala-Ponnappa pairing has matured significantly, while the duo of Jwala and V Diju has been consistently among the best top mixed doubles teams. It's a long shot, but one of the two could bag a medal.

Wrestling:

India's best chances of a medal lay on the broad shoulders of Sushil Kumar, who won a historic bronze in the 2008 Olympics and gold in the 2010 World Wrestling Championships.Sushil will be heading a five-member wrestling team " including Geeta Phogat - to London, out of which NarsinghYadav (74kg), Amit Kumar (55kg) and Yogeshwar Dutt (60kg), who won gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, are also medal contenders. Of the three, Dutt appears the best bet to win a medal, though Yadav and Kumar cannot be discounted.

Will they make it? let's hope for the best.GO INDIA GO!

Looking through 'Aakash'

Not going deep into the introduction of Aakash tablet launched by Indian government as we all know more or less about it. Here we will talk about whether it is worth buying or not? Many of us have doubts about Aakash tablet, Doubts regarding its quality, its configuration and many more things. This is obvious as it is launched by government.

When Aakash tablet project was started the idea was to create a cheap internet access device with functionality to read ebook and watch educational/streaming video. One who uses it will be little bit unhappy with its touch response as it has resistive touch. It is expected that response of touch would be slower than capacitive display devices. Also, it has Android 2.2.2, it wouldn’t support Android Market Place. However, Java support is there. So all jar files and java applications work in it. It also supports PDF documents but it takes quite long to load the next page. Microsoft Office documents are also supported by the tablet but problem with this is same as PDF documents and office documents can only be read, it can't be edited. For document editing there is a text editor (kind of notepad on Windows OS) and it does work. It also supports mp3 audio files and video files but there is some flicker effect. Coming to USB supports, it supports all pendrives but sometimes it doesn't recognise external harddisk. One problem is when the device is goes for sleeping mode while transferring the data the SD card as well as USB Pen drive getting ejected automatically. Page loading time in internet browser is acceptable.

Keep one thing in mind that you can't compare $35 Aakash tablet with ipad. So those who have limited task like reading ebooks(PDF/office documents),watching small videos, limited data transfer using pendrives and internet browsing can go for it. Don’t forget that you can do all these work quicker that your laptop and at a far way cheaper price.

Aakash II tablet is ready for release which may be packed with more features and enhanced speed. And unlike other tablet devices, Aakash can also be used to create computer programs, in Python, C, C++ and Scilab. So looking at your requirements you can decide that you should go for it or not. We hope that this will help you.
